Game of Thrones Is Coming! 2019 Confirmed For Airing
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past seven years, or cryogenically frozen for seventy (Sorry Captain America!), you have at least heard of Game of Thrones. And if you have good tastes, you are eagerly waiting for news concerning it. Well, here it is: HBO has confirmed that the final season of our beloved show GOT will be airing in 2019. Directors D.B. Weiss and David Benioff had started filming for season 8 soon after they finished airing Season 7. Airing every year like clockwork since 2011, GOT skipped for the first time in 2018 – leaving fans in much anticipation for the upcoming season that will have only 6 episodes much to their dismay.
But D&D have put in so much effort in it and the build-up to the final scenes, along with the almost daily rumors of some character or other dying or betraying; has the audience waiting eagerly for Season 8. The amount of foreshadowing in the books has everybody trying to decipher their favorite characters’ arc for the end of the series. With Cleganebowl, dance of dragons, the real motive of the Night King, Azhor Ahai, and so many more scenarios and truths to be revealed – this is indeed one of the most anticipated shows this year. (Unless BBC finally brings out a Sherlock season)
The Raven Brings More Happy Updates
Game of Thrones is a much loved show with episodes like ‘Battle of Bastards’ earning an IMDb rating of a full 10 by the users. Even though this is the last season to be aired, fans don’t need to feel dejected. HBO has already announced spin-offs for the show. George R. R. Martin, the author of novel series ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ (on which the series is based) is co-authoring the scripts for these spin-offs. Martin has said that these are going to be prequels – whether the aired shows are one or more. HBO has apparently commissioned five screenwriters – Brian Helgeland, Carly Wray, Jane Goldman, Max Borenstein, and a fifth unnamed writer – to work upon these prequels.
Fire and Blood
Another report that is sure to put a smile on the fans’ faces (not unlike the Smiling Knight) is that Martin has announced the release date of his book Fire and Blood. The first volume of the complete Targaryen history is set to be released on November 20, 2018. Jokingly named the “GRRMarillion” after J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Silmarillion”; this is a planned complete history of House Targaryen – to be published in two volumes. George is still working on the next book in ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ series named ‘Winds of Winter’. Fire and Blood was originally intended to be published after completion of the original series. Martin revealed in his blogs that the material for this book had grown so much; he had to decide to publish in two volumes. Fire and Blood – the first volume, is set to cover the history of Westeros from Aegon’s Conquest up to and through the regency of the boy king, Aegon III Targaryen.
